Our service provision encompasses and welcomes young people from all backgrounds and circumstances.
We are committed to providing a vision to enhance the quality of experience by creating an accessible, non-threatening, non-judgemental fun and interesting service offering activities to educate guide and enlighten young people.
Nowra Youth Centre’s activities also provide a platform for Young people to feel safe, included and respected. Youth are encourage to engaged in Youth Centre activities and during these activities young people and youth workers are able to breakdown communication barriers and build a repour and respect, this enables Youth workers to support and guide young people to make the right choices by offering suggestions to utilise alternate technique such as talking instead fighting to assist young people with their actions and their emotions, feeling and everyday issues to empower self-esteem, self-awareness, respect, self-worth, confidence and all the while undertaking and creating masterpieces.
Nowra Youth Centre Centre Manager/Youth Worker
Janet began working at the Nowra Youth Centre back in 2008 as the centre cleaner, since then she has obtained credential in Business Management, Youth Work and Children’s Services.
Janet commenced her position as Centre Manager in April, 2014 since that time she has worked with a variety of community organisations to make a difference in the lives of young people, she is very approachable and takes the time to listen to the concerns and needs of our young people, she is a passionate Indigenous women who strives to provide a supportive and safe place for our young people in the Nowra/Shoalhaven community.
When not working at Nowra Youth Centre In her spare time Janet enjoys gardening, watching movies, cooking, going to the beach and art & craft activities.
Favourite Animal: Dolphins.
Nowra Youth Centre – Youth Worker
Kimberley has been with the Nowra Youth Centre for 10 years in different roles. She started as a work place student, became a Youth Worker, then a Night Patrol Worker and office bearer Secretary of Nowra Youth Services Inc. and is currently working as the Nowra Youth Centre Youth Worker.
Kimberley love’s being a youth worker as she feels that she can make a difference to a young persons life no matter how big or small. You will find that Kimberley is quite approachable and non-judgement type of person. She can be a humorous person at times and you will sometimes hear a roar of laughter comeing from Kimberley or her randomly singing a song. Kimberley can also be very serious and helpful to any youth when needed.
Kimberley also runs an Art and Craft group and loves to show youth different things that she has learnt that week.
When Kimberley is not working at the Nowra Youth Centre in her spare time she is either reading a new book on her E-Reader, doing some craft, playing with her pet dog who is the cutest dog ever!!, watching movies and catching up with friends.
